When loosening the head bolts, start at the front and crack the first two 
head bolts loose, about 1/4 turn, then the back two by the firewall, then 
the second row from the front, then the second last etc.  Once they are all 
loosened 1/4 turn, loosen then another couple turns.  Tap on the side of the 
head with a rubber mallet or dead blow hammer, or jiggle the manifolds until 
the head pops loose.  Then remove the bolts and head.  Basically the reverse 
of installation.

This minimizes any chance of warpage.
