I'd start w/ the starter to frame ground strap:

and then double-check the other cables.

If you think it's the starter, the TSI gear reduction starter is available
from Ted and Dean:

The starter for the H20 bolts right up, and should be available from any
Nissan forklift parts company.

Someone else reports that "the later model Datsun L18 and L24 starter can be
rotated to the left side, and will bolt up to the roadster engine. The frame
has to be notched slightly for clearance.
