I wound up doing both with my '70 2000. When I first pulled the smog
stuff to do an alternator swap, I just capped the end of the
"manifold." Later, when I replaced the carbs and intake, I removed
the smog manifold and plugged each hole. Plugging each hole looks
much nicer but didn't seem to have any affect on performance.
