If you're looking for a battery to fit well in the engine compartment of an
early SPL and look like the original, go with a group 53. It's used in
forklifts. The Corvair used it too, as I was told by the Interstate battery
dealer where I bought mine.

seen emails recommending Optima and Odsessey batteries. Not sure which
