Just picked up a copy of Hot Rod Archive Series #4 - Muscle Cars. Very
interesting, to say the least, especially if you were a teen in the mid '60s
through the early '70s. I need to research the only Archive Series issues.
I all but certain that the shot of a '67 GTO in the upper left on page 16
was used in a Motor Trend article in late '66. I showed my dad the article
and within a couple of weeks he'd let me spec the option list for a new one.
The only restriction was that it had to have a bench seat. Mom hated the
buckets in the '63 Impala they traded in. We waited over a month for the
2-dr. Burgundy sedan with black interior, 360 HP HO motor, TH 350 A/T GTO.
Awesome car, to say the least.
IN early '70 maybe a month after we bought our original '70 2000 they showed
up at our place with a '70 Tempest wagon. They'd traded the GTO in for
$1600! I literally cried. Anyone want to venture a guess regarding what a
'67 GTO optioned like that one with a bench seat would be worth at
Barrett-Jackson these days? I don't even want to think about it.
