All these "HID" look bulbs get their blue/white color by filtering out the
yellow light with a blue tinting on the glass.
Filtering out useful light.
At best(sylvanial silverstars), they put out 15% or less light than an OEM
bulb. see their lumen specs here:

Look for lumen output, not "equivalent wattage" ie 55w=85w which has no basis
for comparison..
The best bulbs are the philips vision-plus, sylvania xtra-vision, GE
nighthawks, european OSRAM silverstars (clear glass).
If you use 9005/9006 bulbs, you can get toshiba HIR bulbs which are 2/3 as
bright of a real HID lighting system.
