Have a friend work the clutch while you look at the fork movement. I should 
be at least an inch or more if I remember..Then go through the slave and 
master cylinders to make sure they are good Also, the clevis pin can wear in 
the pedal causing you to loose travel in the clutch,
I did have a faulty new pressure plate once, but the clutch wouldn't 
disengage at all.
It was a faulty "finger" also.
