Hello Listers, Can't remember if I updated the list on my roadster woes.
Starter is kikely okay so engine appears to be seized up somewhere. I know
that more than one of you asked me if the motor was too tight. Now locked
up totally. Will now check timing chains to see if they are binding up. I
need to know the finer points of removing the timing chain cover. I have
just removed the pulley, all the cover bolts, two small bolts from above in
the head and 4 from below on the oil pan. Do I have to back off all oil pan
bolts so the bottom of cover clears the oil pan? Also do I need to back off
head bolts too - seems extreme? I was told the cover should have a cork
gasket on it too. All I can see is a very pliable goo. Could the rebuilder
have just put some form-a-gasket on the gasket? I can see no way of saving
the gasket if in fact it exists. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Larry.
