I have a metric head on my new R series engine and an early valve cover with
the crankcase vent.
These parts don't seem to fit together. The baffle inside the cover hits the
nut on the top of the rocker shaft tower and prevents the cover from coming
down enough to even touch the gasket.
Is there significant difference between the early and late valve covers (with
the PCV vent)?
I have a later model cover, but it is at a shop for refinishing, so I have no
way to check for differences at the moment.
Has anyone else run into this?
Will the later cover work? Or do I get out the hammer to make it fit?
