One problem was that the solex setup could be added as a dealer option. New
tag and all. So factory records would still not be accurate. Of course that
brings up the question, original as it left the factory or as it drove off the
dealer lot. Ask someone with a "100% factory original" car where the plastic
seat covers and all the other shipping protection that the dealer takes off
and throws away are if it's so darn original as it came from the factory.

time, they weren't really consistent, nor was anything recorded. So you will
find cars that are "near" each other in VIN number where the lower-numbered
car has a higher-numbered engine than the other one.
And the question of how to identify an "original Solex" car usually starts
very animated conversations. Even the VIN tags didn't always show 150 hp,
although some did.
