The basic engine was the P&W R4360 and had 4 banks of 7 cylinders arranged in a spiral to help cooling. It had 7 dual mags, One mag for each bank. The US Navy tried it in the Corsair but did not get the performance wanted. It was raced in the Cleveland air races in about 1949. Larry |
