My opinion on vendors

Hi List,

Whether anyone wants to admit it or not including the
vendors we use, we need all of the vendors and serious
hobbyists to supply parts. And they need us. Whether
they do it for financial reasons, love of the cars or
just the satisfaction of making cool things, or
whatever. In my opinion the supply of parts for these
cars is very fragile, and if it weren't for all of
us-users and suppliers, a lot of cars may be running,
but would be missing nice elements or have homemade,
patched up parts or not running at all. And only the
few lucky ones who happened to have those rare cars
that everything on them is perfect would know what the
cars were like when new. The nice thing about these
cars is that they are affordable for average pay guys
like me to fix up, restore or just keep running. A few
years ago I restored my brother's 1962 Corvette. There
are at least five major supply vendors for these cars,
and any one of those vendors could satisfy all of your
parts needs because just about every part on the car
is reproduced. In some cases the reproduced part is
better than the original. But the cars are not in the
financial reach of a lot of people(including me), yet
the parts availability is excellent. Kind of ironic.
This is why I thank the vendors and the serious
hobbyists, whether in public or when I place an order.
If someone won't sell me a part that they advertise on
a public forum because they didn't like the fact that
I thanked someone else, it is their loss. Fortunately,
this has not happened to me, but the day ain't over
yet, and I still need parts. Whether we or the vendors
like it not no single vendor can supply all of the
parts. I know this because I've been on a parts search
quest for five years. By the way, I have been driving
my car around the block every chance I get. I get a
lot of smiles, probably because there are no lights,
interior, windshield, just a Datsun Roadster tub
hauling ass down the street.
