Yesterday I experienced my car was pulling to the left when I braked. You
guessed it, after getting the car up on jack stands and removing the front
right tire, I discovered a leaking caliper. Upon removing and disassembling
the caliper, I discovered a rusting mess that's going to be expensive to
rebuild.
On the positive side, this allows me to do a Volvo brake conversion!
I've already ordered the "manifold" from Breck Meyer described in the
311s.org write-up and am now assembling the other parts I'll need.
Can anyone make a good recommendation on a source for the Volvo calipers?
Unlike parts for our Datsun, there appears to be an infinite number of
online sources of remanufactured Volvo calipers but I wanted to check with
the list for your experience before I blindly pick a site.
Finally, if anyone has recently done a Volvo conversion using method #2 as
described on the 311s.org site, I would appreciate hearing about your
experience. What's the saying? Measure twice, cut once? I would love the
benefit of your experience before I launch off on a conversion of my front
brakes.
