I gave my '68 2000 to my son a few months ago. I have
owned the car for over 12 years. He rear-ended
someone in it causing about $2,000 un-insured body
damage to the Roadster. It became hard to shift, so
it went to the mechanic before the body shop. A
trusted mechanic (Yarnell's in Mtn. View) diagnoses
that the shift linkage is broken inside the
transmission and will cost a minimum of $900 labor
plus a known good 5-speed. The cost to repair this
car is getting darn close to it's market value before
the accident. So what to do?
Does anyone in the SF Bay Area have a good 5-speed
they would be willing to part with?
