Hi Paul - I don't think you need to re-install the lower chain guide.
When I rebuilt my U-20 I left it out and the engine is still going
strong after about 15,000 miles. The old guide had broken, and I think
the metal debris from when it got kicked around caused spun bearings. So
I left it off during the rebuild.
(Hmmn, were roadsters made by Nissan? Could have fooled me.)

Subject: U20 Lower chain guide needed
Opened up two U20s from parts cars and found both had broken lower
chain
guides. My parts guide is a bit confused but my guess is I need Nissan
part
number 13068-25500. Sound right?
Anybody know if they are still available from Nissan? My local
dealers
don't think roadsters were ever made by Nissan. Any good
recommendations
for a dealer that will take an order and ship?
TIA,
