You can do it by hand. Gob a bunch of grease in your palm and force it through
by scraping the bearing against your hand. Make sure everything is squeaky
clean before you begin. Any dirt will ruin a bearing. In fact, if you're
re-using your bearings inspect them for wear. If you see deep scratches or
yellowish brown spots showing through, the bearings need to be replaced.
Once you've packed the bearings, rub the outer surface, wipe a little more on
the end before you install the inner seal, wipe some on the end before you
install the washer on the outer bearing, install the spindle nut, and then pop
the dust cap back on. Some people pack the entire dust cap with grease, which
is totally unnecessary.
You can also buy a plastic tool that you hook to a grease gun. The pressure
from the gun packs in the grease. I use Valvoline moly grease, but there may
be a better brand.
