Hi Allen,
Sounds like your voltage stabiliser for the dash gauges has lost the plot.
This means that the constant 7V D.C. the instruments require is varying
wildly resulting in fluctuating gauges.
Depending on its' construction, you may be able to clean and adjust it but a
new one may be required if it a sealed unit :(
The fuel gauge float arm may also need adjusting to reflect the actual fuel
level.
Best done when the tank is full so the gauge reads just less than "F".
That will give you a slightly pessimistic gauge, better than optomistic!

Subject: Gauges keep gioing out
Hi Everybody,
My 1969 1600 amp meter, fuel gage, and temp gauge keep going out while I
am driving. When I stop the car and restart the gages come back for awhile.
Any clues on why this is happening would be appreciated. My fuel gage when
operating is always inaccurate I can just have filled up and the gage will
say
it is at 3/4 tank, it never goes below 1/2 tank any trouble shooting tips
on
this would also be appreciated.
