Matt the new guy,
Howdy, where are you in the SE? I am in Chesapeake Virginia.
I have a pushrod 2L, so I will not address the timeing chain, but as far as
the top goes, here are some pointers:
If you can verify the top on the car is (was) good quality, and this means
all the snaps and twisties are in their original positions on the car, no
one has moved
them to fit a poor quality top, then the best bet for a top is to
investigate our
venders and pick the top of the quality that you want or can afford,
because THESE TOPS WILL FIT!.

I say this because my car was given to me some years ago (and many dollars
ago)
with a brand new top. Unfortunatly, although of decent quality, it was made
with the
holes in slightly the wrong places, and I ended up moving some of the snaps
and twisties on
the car, so it would fit. Other cars out there are in like condition.

Also check the condition of the top folding mechanism, and the front
latches, and the
little chrome hooks on the back deck. All of this stuff adds up quickly to
be a bunch of money.

You could also investigate the yellow pages and see how much it would cost
to have someone
make a top, this is an especially good option if some miguided P.O. did what
I did and moved
the fasteners on the car-ha!
Best Regards,
Jim
