Yes, The 1600 has a different grill. All horizontal. The 2000 has the "D." 
The 1500 is both horizontal and vertical.
On the rear end swap I think you will find its the other way around putting a 
1600 rear end in a 2000 (not 2000 in a 1600) to improve the 0-60 acceleration 
but you would trade it off on the top end speed. No big deal since most of us 
are older  and need our drivers licenses to get to work.
