In 1977, my dad bought a used '69 silver 1600. I was 2 years old. I rode on
the back package shelf until I was 8 or 9 whenever he took the roadster out
for a spin. I remember growing up with dad's cool little Datsun in south
Florida and then later when we moved to Los Angeles. He kept the car in good
shape and running well.
In 1992, dad said I could have the car. The only catch was that I had to
have it shipped back to Florida, where I had moved back to, and get a
driver's license. I had a job and paid $900 to ship it from LA to Ft.
Lauderdale. I borrowed my mom's Honda Accord to get my license and waited
until the roadster arrived. I was 17 and also didn't know how to drive a
stick, and so I learned.
I've had the "silver bullet" for about 11 years now, and it's even more fun
with the VG30. I love it and still feel like a high school kid every time I
get into it, only better, now that I know how to drive it too!
Enjoy the ride.
