The Starter.

It's a "short one" for the 2000, and I've had it in use for about
10 years.  Very rarely, it will emit a "skrreeetch" on the first
attempt to start, then operate normally to start the car.

Is there anything I can attend to while it's very accessible, and
prevent future pain?
