Arron,
Try reversing the wires on the dash regulator, that should take care of
the gauge problem. The regulator is a 3 terminal device and does require
that it be screwed to the body to work correctly. Make sure that the mount
is tight and rust free.
As for the tail light, it may be that the light housing is not grounded.
The tail/stop light has three wires on it, tail, stop/turn, and ground. IF
the ground is not connected you get some really strange light patterns!
