Hello All,
With the help of Mark Sedlack and Fergus my airbox is coming
along and tonight I will actually start laying on some fiberglass.
Here are some thoughts on the process.
I had to cut a pretty gigantic oblong hole in the inner fender.
THe inner fender cuts way easier than I thought with a jig saw and
metal cutting blade but maneuvering it into some positions is a pain/
next to impossible. A plasma cutter would of done it in like 20 seconds
but it took me all afternoon.
I started with way way way to much foam.
The stock size tire/wheel with its suspension movements takes up a lot
more room in the fender than I thought.
There is less room around the headlight to route an air intake tube than I
thought.
Now that I have cut the hole in the inner fender I could actually easily fit
a 'regular' air cleaner to the end of my 3" Vel stacks. Don't know how much
more crud would get sucked into the engine from taking the air from the
fenderwell though. On a dusty crudy or wet road a lot of stuff is going to
get sprayed off the tires.
Umm thats it I hope to have it mostly done by the end of the weekend
