Maybe the pedal is already bent on my car, but I've always been able to just
rock my gas/brake foot left to right and goose the engine when I'm stepping
on the brake. Back when I was younger and had more energy, I used to
practice double-clutching. It was easy, even when I was on the brakes. The
pedals always felt like they were in just the right place to do this. I
thought this was a normal relationship between the gas and brake pedals.

Is there a wider pedal gap on an SRL??

You're not going to bend the brake pedal with anything short of a blue-tip
wrench (a torch). You can heel-and-toe a roadster but it's a bit awkward.
Just takes getting used to.
