Mike,
I try this same idea, but seems like I never get past $500
before I find something "I just gotta have".
You fogot to mention the proceeds from selling your stashed parts,
thanks again for those good-as-new 240Z carbs.
Top down at work today...Robert - 67.5 1600 - Abq

Start a 'car' piggy bank fund. Every week I throw $40 into a piggy bank and
save all my change and throw that in too. This has been going on for about
25+ years. I now have about 13K in it. I only use the funds for my Roadster
and now my MGB. I restored my Roadster this way many years ago. And I bought
my B with those funds too. All car parts I sell are also funneled into that
special bank account.
As a matter of fact a great deal of my Roadster restoration was funded by
all the spare change I threw in a glass water bottle for about 10 years. I
had over 5K in it when I finally broke the bottle and counted all the
change. The woman at the bank didn't believe me when I told her I needed
wrappers for about 4K in change. When I finally counted and wrapped it all
and brought it to the bank she was stunned :) And I had a sore back :(
All my other cars are funded through my regular bank accounts.
When I need to make an expensive purchase I pull money from my piggy.
Mike
PS - Before you get any thoughts . . . almost all of it is in the bank :)
