In 1974 I moved to California for a couple of years to a small town on the East
side of Mt. Whitney. Basically go to Lone Pine and turn East to go to Death
Valley, which made a nice playground. Anyway I had a 73
Capri at that time (the car that replaced my last roadster until now, a 70 2L)
that was purchased new in Oregon. I ended up shipping the Capri back to Oregon
and selling it, and driving the Mercedes 450SL that
belonged to the guy I worked for (big tear here) instead because my car did not
have a California smog system installed.

Cars from other states must be upgraded before they can be licensed if they do
not already have the smog equipment required by California.

FYI, I really enjoyed that Mercedes.......
