Last week I finally followed up a suggestion from one of my co-workers
and called a friend of his about a set of Miata seats for my Datsun.
The guy had several sets and the price almost knocked me out of my seat
- less than half eBay.

Needles to say I picked up a nice pair and tonight I set one in the
drivers seat. At first it seems too high, but I see I can gain about an
inch if I modify the lower rail with the mounting tabs and let the front
bolts go through the floor.

Can I just cut the front tabs off of the front of the seat rail and use
the mounting bolt in the front? Assuming that is OK, can I bend the
rear mounting tab flat without harming the seat rail?

I am hoping it comes down far enough so my head does not rub on the
hardtop, and I am not sure about the cloth top since I only have a frame
at this point.
