Hi friends,

Many, many Thanks for all the pics and advices for the solex 2000.

After changing the points, adjusting the gap and setting the timing to
+/- 16 degrees on the gistributor foot the engine started better than
some cars these days.......... and then something happened.....
rattle, rattle, rattle.

Oh no, what's that????? Wrong valve adjustment???!!!!!OOOHHHHHHH
NOOOOOO!!!!

E V I L LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

That's it!

L is cut already half it's way down, upper tensioner is full out, a
bit more and he will fall out.
Chain has so much play, I can nearly put it one tooth further on the
cam gear.

So what was the last price on a complet timing setup. You know, gears,
chains, tensioners, guides.
What about the CLEVITE or Beck/Anley parts that are shown at
www.carparts.com? HAs anyone tried them? Are these really parts for
U20?

For my car I ordered everthing through the roadster vendors as their
business is only based on the roadster and people like Ross, Dennis,
Les and Dann are graet people and without their help there would be no
Belgian Roadster.
But the car I'm working on is not mine and the only real number
matching 68 2000 solex in Luxembourg and if I want this car to stay on
the road and in my " neighbourhood" I have to keep the repair cost as
low as possible but still trying to do 50/50 with the
vendors/aftermarket sources.

Waiting for your advises for aftermarket and others
Regards,
Chris
