Morgan,
Gearing kinda depends on what you want to do with the car after you get things
connected together and working. If you want to eat Chevy's (my choice) the
higher ratios will work better for you, but not great for hiway miles. For most
of my use I would choose the 3.7 because I really don't want to push the drive
train by dragging to often and I do want to use the car for longer outings here
and there.
