hi ray...
you're probably more mechanically inclined than i am... but i wanted to share
my tale of starting up the motor that has been sitting for awhile...
believe me, i wish i knew the things i know now that i did not know then when
my oddyess started... if that makes any sense???... anyway... make sure the
motor is at tdc (both cam lobe pointing upward and tick mark on the crank
pulley (h-balancer) is lined up... put new oil filter... pour new oil... take
out the dist... unhook the tach cable... pull off the oil feed line... take off
the dist tower... pull out the dist gear drive -"make sure you make a mental
note on how the gear is positioned"... and like tom said, place the dist oil
feed line over the hole... get a tool that is flat w/smooth edges on one end
that can be chucked on a drill... slowly go counter clock wise... now the fun
begins... you have to carefully put back the dist gear drive and make sure it
goes back in the same position (about 11:25 but it looked more like closer to
12:30 in my case)... pending on if the larger oblong of the dist gear (towards
the front or the back) your rotor should be at either 10 or 4 o'clock...
just remember the distributor goes counter clock wise and the firing order is
1-3-4-2...

good luck...
