I want to share another Datsun roadster story with you all. My son
Daniel is attending the San Francisco Academy of Arts. He was talking to
school director, Tom Motano, designer of the first generation Miata, and
I believe third generation RX7. The subject turned to Fairladys. Tom,
has his own SRL311 story! He was in Tokyo, just turned 16 and had just
gotten his license. The next day he went to a local car rental place and
asked if he could rent a 2L. It was a low windshield 67.5 with a 5
speed. He was told that they don't rent those cars to kids who just got
their license. But they admired his courage so they let him rent one
against policy. Twenty minutes later Tom got his first speeding ticket,
and lost his license for three months! :-O
