engine component compatibility

How compatible are the 1500, early and late 1600 engines in regards to major 
components such as heads, camshafts, cranks, rods, oil pans, H2O pumps, oil 
pumps, distributor drive, timing chain and cover, valve cover, flywheels?
I know the 1500 and early 1600 are 3 main cranks - same?  alum head on an 
early 1600 block?  I've got lots of parts and I am starting a new project.
