It depends on which crowd YOU are in - the 'keep it original crowd?'-
not sure originality still applies if it means cutting off half the car,
welding on another half, lots of time and energy and the originality of
the car is still in question, and your end result will be as good as the
person performing the body work. A different approach would be how much
time and money you want to invest and what you ultimately want out of
the end product. Look at all the resources you have available (the '66
body, and your '67 + the body work needed) and crunch some numbers to
see what fits your situation better. Since you're keeping the frame /
engine, transferring the ID tag to the '66 body will give you the
appearance of a numbers matching car.

Good luck with whichever avenue you take - at the end of the day, it's
what you want that counts.

Also good luck with your Z search as well!!

Another question, this one on-topic:

Our '67 has a badly cracked trunk that can no longer support the weight
of a gas tank. It also had at least part of a '69 or '70 used in the
rear to repair damage from an accident. Would it be more correct to get
an entire rear and replace it, or would a body swap be acceptable to the
"keep it original" crowd? We have a '66 body available for the swap,
but for this particular Roadster (it has matching numbers and seems to
run pretty well) we want to keep the originality issue in mind.

Thanks in advance!
