Hello All,
I knew that when I set out to do the complete restoration of my 67.5 2000
that there would be unforseen things that would come up. It goes without
saying. However, I think I found one issue that has got to be the grand
prize winner in the "how the hell did that happen?" sweepstakes.
The day I took the car off the road, I went for one final fun run with Roman
Rist and Victor Laury. One more time through the twisties to say good bye as
I knew he would be down for a while. He drove well and fast. About six
months later I took the entire drive train out with the help of Victor and
Roman. I never took the tranny off of the block. It sat patiently waiting
its time to be rebuilt.
So today was the day that Ross's mechanic takes the engine apart to find out
what is going on. He hears a strange noise when turning the engine. Guess
what? My crankshaft is broken.
Now I ask you how can this happen? I drove the car to the spot it was
dismantled. When I say broken I mean severed. I have some pics of it you
will not believe. I am either the luckiest or unluckiest guy around
depending on how you look at it.
Pics to follow,
Andrew Murphy
