In all my years of working on cars, a condensor problem is either a
total failure or good. I have never had an intermittent one. Just my
personal experience. I would change the coil out with a good known one
as it sounds like the coil is warming up and shorting internally. Again
just a guess. How are the wires internal to the distibutor. Sometimes a
minor wear spot can cause worlds of fun too.
