Datsun race fans,
It's almost that time of year again to get down (up?, over?) to MidOhio
http://www.midohio.com/sportscarcourse/ for the SCCA National Run-Offs
September 14th through the 21st. MidOhio is one of the best spectator
courses in all of the US, and a fantastic drivers course. While all the
racing is great, of special interest is the G Production race Saturday
afternoon and the E Production race Sunday afternoon.
In the latest issue of SCCA's SportsCar magazine there is talk of Mark
Dennis's 510 taking first place this year and mention of another 510 from
Colorado. And if you caught any of last years race, you'll remember Bill
Wessel's charge from last place(blew a motor in qualifying the night before)
to run as high as 5th and finished 8th. This year he has another year of
racing under his belt and much more experience at MidOhio. I doubt if he
starts anywhere near the back of the pack this year.
In E Production, Grayson Upchirch in his 240SX is picked to be on the
podium, but keep an eye on Dave McDowell in his Datsun 2000 roadster. And
if you get a chance to find him in the paddocks, check out the suspension
mods under that sheet metal!
And of course the Run-Offs are always full of Z's racing. So make it a
weekend and enjoy some of the best racing you'll ever see.
