hello,
I discovered the obvious today, and I'm sure that I'm not the first.
Only, I discovered the hard way!
Retorque or at least check your wheel lug nuts after putting on
wheels!!!

I was driving in the slow lane at about 60 on the freeway, when all of
a sudden my handling felt funny, the rear end was very "sloppy".
In a heartbeat the rear end was gone, and I lost conrol of the car.
Next thing I know I'm spinning and involved in a collision at speed
with another car. Not sure if I hit him or he hit me, but collide we
did.
As I am spinning, all I could think of was the imminent sudden death
that lay before me. My drivers side rear wheel was gone!!!
The center freeway barrier was a welcome sight, as I knew it would
stop me and I had a chance.
I got out of the car very happy to be alive.
THANK GOD, no one was hurt, but the car was pretty damaged. I think it
is a "parts car" now.
I spun around and crossed 4 lanes and am alive to tell you about it.
take care of yourselves, your loved ones, your children, your cars.
Oh, and tighten those lugs, BTW, a 30 year old sportscar make sure
everything is tight!

Roman.
