I do believe the springs are different but I'm not postive. The vacuum
advance plate wears out quickly, very quickly, and becomes notchy.

I wouldn't throw it in a vat of cleaner as there is grease where you can't
replace it w/o disassembling the entire distributor and it's no fun. Just
clean out the body and put lube on the lobes and in the center of the cam.

You should replace the weights also as they wear and hell, you may as well
get new springs.

I never saw a points plate wear but anything is possible.
