Ah, that's the magic question, isn't it? Speculation/claims have included the
following:
1. No cars were equipped with Solexes from the factory (in the US at least). All
Solexes were a dealer-installed option.
2. The first 100/200/500 (choose one) 2000's came from the factory with Solexes
so it could be homologated for racing.
3. Solexes were only available factory-installed on 1967 2000's. After that, it
was a dealer-installed option.
4. Regardless of that, all US 2000's came with 135 hp VIN plates.
5. Some US 2000's came with 150 hp VIN plates, so they must have been
factory-installed.
Datsun wasn't very interested in keeping precise records back then, apparently.
If they ever develop time travel, maybe we can go back and watch the assembly
line and find out the truth.
