There are definite advantages to living in a small town...
I bought my 64 1500 from Leigh Brooks a little over a year ago. I took a
plane to San Francisco and after I bought the car, I drove it North to visit
my mother who lives in a little town called Lucerne North of the Wine
Country.
I took the 101 over the GG bridge and up through Rohnert Park. I decided to
drive the twisties over the mountains to get to Lake County instead of
driving all the way around. It was mid week and there was no traffic.
However, as I got to the crest of the pass and started to head down the
switchbacks were really sharp so I started cutting the corners...
At the bottom of the hill there was a CHP car parked by the side of the road
and the officer waved me over. Turns out there was a CHP plane that had
spotted me and other people cutting the corner and I was issued a citation
for driving on the wrong side of the road. A legal scam...
He did like my car though...

I tried to post a response yesterday to the thread about driving a car with
no
hood, gas tank, etc... but it kept bouncing back.
I got my 23x9.5x15 Hoosier racing slicks mounted on the centerline rims. I
had to install longer studs and wheel spacers. I wanted to do a test drive
to
see if anything was going to rub. I made it about 2 miles from home on a
small rural road when Tetanus ran out of gas. Important note: If you have
a
2 gallon fuel cell always top off before leaving the house. I had to walk
home and get the gas can. When I returned to the car the Krum policeman was
behind my car with his lights on. He was looking it over pretty closely.
The
car has no plates, registration, insurance, inspection, bumpers, mirrors,
horn, headlights, taillights, turn signals, has a very loud exhaust, and the
slick tires say "Not for Highway Use" cast in the sidewalls in big letters.
He said he was concerned that someone might hit the car where it was parked.
I filled it with gas, started it up, and told the nice policeman thanks for
the concern as I drove off. He waved goodby and I went on my merry way. I
love living in a one horse (or policeman) town.
