Straight lines can be ordered to length.  Much cheaper and faster than 
sending in the old crappy lines to be bent to shape.  Some of the stainless 
line manufacturers are selling flairing kits to use with the stainless 
lines, so there is hope.  I suspect that the answer is in what alloy 
stainless is used.  There are many, and some are softer than others.
