If you carefully examine your gear after it has been cleaned and taken off
the main shaft you should be able to see that the gear is actually 2
separate pieces pressed together. If it is a splined gear you should be able
to see the splines. If you cannot see the splines you don't have a splined
gear.
Use a magnifying glass as the spines are quite small.
Stan Chernoff sells welded gears but you should have your original gear
welded and returned.
