The 1966 (and probably earlier) Roadsters used a long thin battery, a type
53. The early Corvair also used a type 53 with the negative pole on the top
left (looking at it lengthwise). If one uses a 53 in a Roadster, the
negative pole should be on the top right, as the ground is toward the front
of the car. This would require a type 53R, or using a type 53 and having the
battery cables hook up closer to the fender that the engine. I cannot find a
type 53R, although a type 51 R is close.
What do others do to get the layout correct?
