On the 2000 you don't really have to disconnect the drive shaft as the slip
yoke will slide out of the back of the trans as it moves forward.  It's wise
to remove it though as you really don't want it to drop to the ground.  It's
also much easier to put it back in later than to try to get the yoke lined
up with the gearbox as you're putting the engine/trans assembly back in.
The trans doesn't swing back in my experience as it won't usually go easily
over the cross piece that the trans mount bolts to.  I've always had good
luck lifting the engine up a ways and then wrapping a piece of heavy rope
around the transmission tail shaft and using that to lift (through the
sifter hole) the trans mount studs out of the cross piece.  If you do it
right, the transmission will move forward and over the cross piece as soon
as it's mount is free.
