The 432 designates the motor in that Z. It was the Skyline GT-R motor, the
S20. It had 4 valves per cylinder, 3 Weber carbs, and 2 camshafts.
As for the Shelby GT350; during development there was an ongoing debate
about what to call the new car. So one day, Shelby and one of his employees
are outside the main building of the test grounds discussing it. They had
come up with nothing at the time, so Shelby asks the guy something along the
lines of " How far do you think it is from here to the assembly building?"
The guy replies; "about 350 feet." And that is how they came up with the
name. They decided it was a GT car, so that was how they came up with
GT350. Hard to believe, but that's what the tale is.
