The clutch on my F150 quit working. After adding fluid to the master
cylinder I was unable to bleed it. When I cracked the bleeder valve the
pedal went to the floor and remained there. As I was late for work I
put it in first, hit the starter and idled it to the repair shop. (Damn
red lights!) Fortunately it is close to home. They called later in the
morning to inform me that it was ready to go. It seems that there is a
deep, rubber bladder type seal in the cap of the master cylinder. When
I took the cap off the seal remained in place. The MC is black plastic
and the seal is black rubber. The fluid that I added was on top of the
seal leaving the MC dry! The guys at the garage were amused. Can't say
that I was. Does this qualify for "Idiot of the Month"?
At least I'm a regular customer and they were kind enough not to charge
me anything. That, or they felt sorry for anyone so stupid!
