Adam,
I would not suggest you use 1.25" spacers on any car for any purpose. If you
can't get the right wheel don't buy it or spend more $$$$ and get the right
wheel.
The reason there are horror stories is because there have been horrors and
they usually involve spacers a lot thinner than those. Do what you want but
I wouldn't put them on any car I own.
