Mike,

The butterfly rotates in the opposite direction.

I grabbed a pair of nice SU-Hitachi Carbs at a swap meet,
only to realize later they were not 2000 roadster carbs.
One of those "duh" moments when I went to bolt up the
linkage and discovered 2000 and "Z" carbs were different. ;-)

Oh my son was asking about a few of my home made machine
tools. I had one in the corner, stripping it for parts, when
he asked why? I explained to make something really good you
need to make some really bad mistakes first. Showed him how
two sprockets would flex under load, popping the chain off.
In that case a rubber belt works better with two pulleys.
He seemed to like the idea not everything I made worked...
we also discovered a belt should NOT bottom in a "V" pulley,
just wears out and produces a good amount of smoke too
quickly.

Spent yesterday searching for an engine suitable for a go
kart project. No, I just buy a go kart ready built, we have
to build our own. After numerous false searches, stopped in
the Harbor Freight Place. Cool, nice little 5hp gas engine.
Liam finally explained "NO GAS, I want a quiet electric one".
Uh oh. I think of engine's being "gas" and motor's being "electric".
Finally dawned on me that he was calling an electric motor an
"engine", which I had assumed he wanted a gas powered kart.

Back to the drawing board for room for a small DC Controller.

So as my son's learned: No I do not know everything, but have made
enough mistakes to learn something's. Lord help me when I fire
up the controls on the milling machine (next project, right after
I finish the go kart, which means I need to finish that tubing
bender, right after the hydraulic pump.... ). Hopefully Gary &
Gary can walk me through the G code before I make too many
mistakes. Just love learning new things.

Just having too much fun in the garage.

Cheers,

Tom Walter
