Best way I've found to enjoy both fatherhood and cars, is to get the kids
involved. Here's my "Ace" mechanic at work out in the garage on a rainy

She's only 6, but can run the drill press ( with supervision, ear muffs, and
safety glasses - she insists), and knows what a ratchet is. Whenever I want
to go for a ride in my Z ( roadster's just getting started on), she wants to
go too, and even has been known to say "Put your foot in it Dad!" I'm going
to insist that when she's old enough to date, that her potential suitors
come over and spend some time in the geerage!
My boy's only 2, but he likes to help out as well, and long as I give him a
rag to "clean" with, and mom is around to keep him out of mischief while
we're occupied rebuilding a carb or something.
Only thing that drives you a little nuts is the incessant questions, but you
take a deep breath, and answer all of them the best you can, knowing that
much too soon they'll be too busy with their own lives to spend an afternoon
wrenching with dad!
