I think that's a clone of the Brit show Robot Wars (been on a couple years).
If you enjoy that (as I have) you ought to watch Junkyard Wars. (TLC Monday
nights, to move to Wednesday soon.) Two contesting teams have 10 hours to
construct a project, and race each other with the results. This week they
had to construct dragsters out of junk they search for in a junkyard from
scratch and race on a dragstrip. Watching them do it in 10 hours gives me
the incentive to fix my roadster (although not as rapidly!). Last week they
had to make water-spraying fireboats out of cars and put out a fire on the
shore. Every week something new.
